Well Pump Troubleshooting

Are you having problems with your well pump? Maybe it’s not working like it used to or maybe you are hearing odd noises. Regardless of the issue, Hartmann Well Drilling is here to help. We specialize in well pump troubleshooting and we are here to help with any problem you are experiencing with your well or well pump.

However, there might be a simple solution to getting your well pump working again. Try these well pump troubleshooting suggestions before you give us a call.

Well Pump Troubleshooting Suggestions

  • Is the breaker to the pump working?
Flip the breaker several times to make sure it is set.
  • Is the ball valve to the home open?
The ball valve next to the tank should be pointing in the same direction as the water line. If the ball valve lever is at a 90 degree angle to the water line, that means it is closed.
  • Is the water pressure consistent throughout your entire home?
You can check to make sure the water is entering your home correctly by placing a bucket underneath the faucet that is next to the pressure tank. If the water pressure is fine at this faucet, check your filter to make sure it is not blocked. Then check each faucet in your home to ensure the screens are clear of mineral build-up and sentiment.
  • Does your home have a constant pressure pumping system?
If so, is there a red light on? If there is, shut the power off at the breaker box. Then wait about 30 seconds and turn it on again.
  • Are you noticing cloudy water?
Use your garden hose at your outside faucet and let it run outside for several hours until the water runs clear again.

If these suggestions do not work, or if you are hearing odd noises (such as a clicking sound near the pressure tank or the sound of the pump running too often), give us a call to schedule a well pump troubleshooting appointment.

We can come to your home, take a look at your well pump and figure out what the problem is. We even offer free estimates so you know how much to budget for.
