A Well of Information: All about Well Inspection & Well Installation

One of the most important parts of a home is a well that is in good working order with water of good quality. Whether you’re getting ready to buy a home with a well already installed or looking into well installation for your Bloomington home, you may have a few questions about them. We’ve put together some of the questions we’ve received about well installation, inspection and more to help you familiarize yourself with the processes.

What does an inspection company look for when it comes to the well?

An experienced inspection company will look at several different aspects of the well; if the water has any impurities, how well the water flows, how much water can be pumped from the well and where the well is located in relation to things like the septic system, property lines and any ponds or bodies of water.

Getting the well inspected means that any issues with water quality or the actual well itself can be addressed. Hartmann Well Drilling can recommend filters to improve the water quality, if needed, or we can provide a quote and fix any issues with the structural quality of the well before you purchase the home and move in.

How deep should my well go?

The depth of your well installation depends heavily on the hydro-geology of the landscape. The location of underground aquifers also plays a part. Aquifers are underground areas where water is naturally stored.

Does a well need to be tested?

We will test the water right after the well installation and you should have your well water tested at least once a year to ensure there are no problems.

How long does a well installation take?

This varies from job to job. It depends on how deep the well will need to go. Generally, a well installation usually takes a day or two to complete.

Do all wells have pumps? When are those installed?

Yes. And, our well installation experts will put in your water pump after the drilling process is complete. We will determine the size pump your new well installation requires and install it shortly after the drilling is complete.

In addition to well installation, Hartmann Well Drilling also offers a variety of water well-related services including:

  • Well sealing
  • Pump service
  • Well certification
  • Geothermal drilling
