Deciding on geothermal installation is a big step. We won’t deny that it is expensive upfront, but it’s the cost savings down the road that will make the difference. It’s much more efficient than conventional heating systems, and it’s also environmentally friendly since you aren’t burning fuel to create warmth.

Once you decide a geothermal system is the right thing for your home, we can help with the installation. Geothermal is definitely not something you can do yourself. You need professionals to install the system. That’s where we come in.

Professional Geothermal Installation

Hartmann Well Drilling provides the drilling needed for ground source heat pumps. We specialize in drilling for closed loop systems, which are the most common.

Vertical loops are used when space is limited. We drill several holes about 15 feet apart that are 100-400 feet deep. Pipes are then inserted into the holes and connected at the bottom.

For the horizontal system, we dig trenches 6 feet deep over a wider area. Typically, a 2,000 square foot house requires 400 feet of 2-foot wide trenches.

Of course these depths and areas can vary depending on the terrain, soil conditions and location of your house. We will map out the best way to install the geothermal system for your specific needs.

Once installed, the pipes filled with liquid (water or antifreeze solution) will transfer heat from the ground to your house (or vice versa). These loops of pipe are connected to a geothermal heat pump in your home, which acts as both a furnace and air conditioner. Many units can also provide hot water. They will provide energy efficient heating and cooling for many years to come.
